Who We Are

The Bridging Culture and Art Foundation(B-CAF) is a non-profit organization committed to advancing artistic expression, nurturing innovation and experimentation in arts and conducting preservation & restoration of art, historical and cultural heritage. We forge connections between artists, remote communities and the urban population with the goal to cultivate opportunities that create livelihood, revitalize and preserve art and culture.

What We Do

We work with folk and tribal art communities through capacity-building programs for generating sustainable livelihoods via traditional art practices. Our remarkable collection of Jadu Patua paintings, with captivating tribal narratives, graces museums and cultural institutions worldwide. We bridge societal divides, celebrating human diversity among artists by curating contemporary art exhibitions, fostering meaningful dialogues and hosting impactful seminars. Amid Kolkata’s architectural wonders, we facilitate for artists to collaborate to explore new artistic avenues. We lead meticulous projects dedicated to preserving, researching, documenting and archiving diverse art and heritage treasures. Our offerings include engaging Cultural Tours, Folk Art and Art Appreciation sessions to promote cultural heritage and increase arts awareness.

Cultural Preservation and Advancement (CPA)

We work with folk and tribal art communities through capacity-building programs for generating sustainable livelihoods via traditional art practices. We preserve cultural heritage by researching, archiving, documenting, and conducting preservation/restoration efforts on Art, Historical and Heritage objects.

Arts Connect (AC)

Dedicated to the celebration of art and cultural heritage, we specialize in curating and producing a diverse spectrum of artistic creations. Our offerings encompass a wide range of immersive experiences, from captivating Cultural Tours that allow participants to embark on a journey through history and tradition, to Folk Art exhibitions that pay homage to the rich tapestry of artistic expressions within our cultural roots. In addition, we conduct Art Appreciation sessions that serve as a bridge between creators and appreciators, fostering a deeper understanding and connection to the world of art. Our mission is to not only promote and preserve our cultural heritage but also to elevate arts awareness, making art more accessible and appreciated by all.

Artists Development Space (ADS)

The ‘Artists Development Space’ is an inclusive hub where 'The Yellow Door' initiative celebrates human diversity in art through curated exhibitions/showcasing, conversation, seminars and powerful film screenings. Our work extends beyond dialogue and into practical skill-building, as we prepare artists to showcase their work effectively in gallery settings. ‘The Arts Nest’, a collaborative sanctuary within our space, immerses artists in the vibrant tapestry of Kolkata's culture. Here, they draw inspiration from the city's storied history, breath taking architecture, delectable local cuisine and time-honoured traditional art forms.

Our Permanent Collection

Our remarkable collection of Jadu Patua paintings immerses viewers in captivating tribal narratives that encompass a rich tapestry of themes. Among these, ‘Santhal Janamkatha’ stands out, depicting the birth of humanity and the formation of the land, rivers, and the intricate web of living traditions. These important artworks also delve into the exploration of societal norms, the enigmatic journey of life after death, and a vibrant array of festivals that define the cultural identity of these tribal communities. Each painting is a testament to the profound creativity, cultural depth, and storytelling prowess of the artists, making them not just artworks but gateways to a world of folklore and tradition.
